Gifts for the Football Guy Who Plans His Week Around Sunday
Gear for the man whose weekend has a kickoff time

Some men have hobbies. The football guy has a liturgy. Sunday starts at noon, the phone goes face down at kickoff, and nobody talks during a two-minute drill. He doesn't need a lecture about screen time. He needs a better setup.
This list skips the stuff every big-box store pushes in December. It's for the guy who already owns the cap and wants game day to run smoother.
The Watch Setup
A real recliner
If he's still watching from the end of a sectional somebody else picked out, fix that. A recliner with cup holders and a solid footrest is the biggest single upgrade to a Sunday. Measure the room first. These things are bigger than they look online.
Soundbar with a subwoofer
Flat-screen speakers are thin. A soundbar makes the crowd sound like a crowd and makes the announcers easy to hear without cranking the volume. Look for one with a dialogue or voice mode.
Indoor HD antenna
Plenty of games air on local broadcast channels. A cheap antenna is the backup plan for when the streaming app freezes on third and goal. Reception depends on how far he lives from the towers, so check that before you buy.
Game Day Food
Six-quart slow cooker
Chili goes in at nine, dinner's ready by halftime, and he never misses a snap. Programmable ones switch to warm on their own.
Wing rack for the grill or smoker
Wings stand up, cook evenly and stop sticking to the grates. It's a small thing that makes a man look like he knows what he's doing.
Instant-read meat thermometer
The difference between "these are great" and "are these done?" Every guy who cooks for a crowd should own one.
For the Tailgate
Rolling cooler
Parking lots are long. Wheels and a sturdy handle beat carrying sixty pounds of ice and drinks by hand.
Portable propane grill
Small enough for the truck bed, big enough for brats for six. Check the stadium's rules on open flames before he packs it.
Cornhole set
The official sport of the parking lot. A regulation-size set with real bags holds up better than the flimsy party-store kind.
Stadium seat with back support
Bleachers were not designed by anyone over forty. A padded seat with a back makes a three-and-a-half-hour game a lot kinder on the spine.
For the Guy Who Played
Official-size leather football
For throwing in the yard with the kids at halftime. Leather breaks in and feels right in a way the rubber ones never do.
Football is one of the last places a man can yell at a TV with his buddies and nobody calls it a problem. Help him do it right.
