People magazine has named Noah Wyle its Sexiest Man Alive for 2026. He's 55, and if you watched TV in the 90s, you know him as Dr. John Carter, the young doctor who grew up in front of us on ER, which premiered in 1994.

The second act

These days Wyle stars in HBO Max's medical drama The Pitt as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, who runs a Pittsburgh trauma center. The role has already earned him two Emmy Awards, and it's turned a guy a lot of people filed under "the 90s" back into one of the most respected actors on TV. His career now runs more than three decades.

His reaction

Wyle told People he figured the call was a prank at first. He said he never thought the honor would go to him, and he expects to get teased about it by friends and family. That sounds about right.

Good company

He joins a list that includes his old ER co-star George Clooney, who won it twice, along with Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba, John Krasinski and Paul Rudd.

The Radazoid take

This is a fun one, because it's not some 25-year-old influencer with a skincare line. It's a guy in his 50s who kept working, took the hard roles, and got better with age. Somewhere a lot of men just stood a little straighter in front of the bathroom mirror.

The Pitt has also been praised for showing doctors as competent, tired people doing a brutal job well, which is a refreshing thing for TV to celebrate. If you haven't watched it, it's the best argument yet that the guy you rooted for in 1994 still has it. And to Wyle's friends: the teasing should last at least through Thanksgiving. That's just good manners.
