Croc 2 and Joe & Mac are back today: two 90s relics get a second life
The Croc 2 remaster and the Joe & Mac Retro Collection both land on October 29.

Two games that lived in 90s rental stores are back today. Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, a remaster of the 1999 PlayStation platformer, and the Joe & Mac Retro Collection, a bundle of Data East's SNES caveman games, both release on October 29. Reviews aren't in yet, so here is what each one is and what's new.
Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos
The original Croc 2 came out on the PlayStation on August 3, 1999, from developer Argonaut and publisher Fox Interactive. You played a crocodile hopping between four Gobbo villages, rescuing Gobbos and chasing a stolen sandwich, plus vehicle levels with a go-kart, speedboat, hang glider and hot air balloon. It sold around 500,000 copies on PlayStation by May 2000, and Fox even put it on more than 6.5 million Gummi Savers wrappers.
Critics were split back then: IGN gave it a 7.5 out of 10, GameSpot a 5.4, and the camera got most of the blame. The remaster, from Argonaut Games, comes to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Switch and PC. It adds updated visuals, a new triple jump, three new Guardian bosses and the Croc2pedia, a digital museum with cut content, design documents and developer interviews. It follows the 2025 remaster of the first Croc.
Joe & Mac Retro Collection
This one collects three SNES games: Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Congo's Caper and Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics, plus their Super Famicom versions. Red Art Games published it with G-Mode, after a Kickstarter that raised €36,952 from 612 backers. You get rewind, save states, a CRT filter and a Boss Rush mode, on Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series and Steam. Physical copies for Switch and PS5 are due in early 2027.
The Radazoid take
Croc 2 is a strange one to bring back, and I mean that as a compliment. It's from the era when every studio wanted its own mascot with attitude, and most of them ended up in the bargain bin next to a stack of Hanson CDs. Whether the remaster finally fixes that camera is the whole ballgame, so wait for reviews before you jump.
Joe & Mac is the safer bet tonight. Rewind and save states turn games that used to eat a whole weekend of rental money into something you can play after the kids go to bed. Two cavemen with clubs, a couch and a buddy: some ideas never needed improving.
